Kurt Beahan

Committee Member

A proud Wiradjuri man from Narromine NSW, Kurt’s love for rugby league and his community have dominated his work on and off the field.

Coming from a family who were super sporty and love rugby league really kicked off Kurt’s athletic career from day one. He had great success on the field from the beginning, participating in school, local and community events. His participation and achievements resulted in Kurt being picked up for a tour of England and France at sixteen years old. You read that right - sixteen!

Kurt was later signed on to St George Dragons at eighteen years old. Following an injury which stopped him from continuing his sporting career, he shifted his focus to building his professional career. He began work helping children and young people in foster care, guided by his strong backing in Community and Development.

As Kurt began to reach the end of his potential Rugby League career, he reached out to Jason ‘Frenchie’ French so that they could create the change they wanted to see. They established the sports club in 2008.

Kurt’s combined backgrounds in both Rugby League and working with disadvantaged children and families shaped the lens of change he was motivated to create in Orange. Extremely proud of how far the club has come, Kurt preaches the spirit of the resilience and strong community that the club has created; “Back yourself, don’t listen to the outside noise”
